Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) offers the leading micro 3D printing technology for diverse use cases that require the unique combination of excellence in three key areas: resolution, accuracy, and precision. Using polymer and composite additive manufacturing, BMF is able to produce high-precision/high-tolerance industrial parts (2μm printing resolution and +/- 10um tolerance). Today, BMF is the only industrial 3D printing company to match the quality of high-resolution injection molding and CNC processing.

Profile Description

We focus on research and development of mold-free, one-shot fabrication of precision components, and offer technical solutions for manufacturing of complex 3D micro/nano structures. By marrying different materials and processes, we are able to achieve high efficiency, low-cost batch production of end products and sell them on the global market.

Founded in 2016, BMF has offices in Shenzhen (China Mainland), Boston (the U.S.) and Hong Kong, China. We base in China with a global vision. The R&D team is led by Nicholas X. Fang, BMF’s co-founder and the Chief Scientist, who is also a full professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The team includes some of the best talents in various areas, with rich experience in industrialization. Since its establishment, several experts have joined BMF as Senior Scientists, including Professor William T. Plummer, an Elected Member of National Academy of Engineering, who is also a professional in optics; and Professor Mo Jalie, who is globally acclaimed as an international authority on the design of spectacle lenses.

Micro/nano-scale 3D printing (micro/nano structural additive manufacturing) is one of the most world-leading areas in advanced manufacturing. There is huge demand for complex 3D micro/nano structures in various areas, e.g. M/NEMS, precision optics, biomedicine, tissue engineering, new materials, new energy, HD display, microfluidic components, micro/nano optical components, micro/nano sensors, micro/nano electronics, bio-chips, optoelectronics, printed electronics, etc. Microscale 3-D Printing and Nano-Architecture have been acknowledged as one of 10 Breakthrough Technologies by MIT Technology Reviewmagazine in 2014 and 2015 consecutively.

BMF’s self-developed 3D printing systems have been adopted by world’s top scientific institutions, including MIT, Masdar Institute, Nanjing University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics (SINANO) of CAS, City University of Hong Kong, etc.
