Pollard 3D

Pollard 3D
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process. PLA filament is fed into the print nozzle where it is melted and laid down in fine .1 mm layers, building the form from the print-bed layer by layer.

Profile Description

Computer code controls how the print-bed moves, (x-axis), the print head moves (y-axis) and after each layer, the print head moves up (z-axis) for the next layer. We started out using BeetleBlocks to design mathematical based 3D designs to print and make into earrings. I first learned about BeetleBlocks, the block-based programming language for kids, prior to the Scratch 2016 @ MIT Conference. Combine BeetleBlocks, a Printrbot Simple, a love of making, plus a history of wearing interesting earrings and Pollard 3D Prints emerged.Doug now has adapted and coded his own extruder profile to speed the design process.

I still enjoy using Beetleblocks for the first run on our designs.I’ve been making jewelry and programming since high school. It wasn’t until we got our first 3D printer that I put the two together. I enjoy wearing a different pair of earrings each day.We love thinking about geometric shapes to put into earring designs. We are members of the Lebanon Art and Crafts Association and sell our earrings at their annual Christmas Show. This summer (2019) you can find us at the Lebanon Farmers Market each Thursday evening from 4-7pm at Colburn Park in Lebanon.
