APPLICATIONS / PROPERTIES
Recycled carbon fiber can be used to reduce vehicle weight – increasing range and fuel economy while reducing emissions. Recycled carbon fiber has been used extensively in consumer goods as well as the oil and gas industry. Vartega’s recycled carbon fiber features virgin mechanical properties as well as minimal thermal expansion and high electrical conductivity.
LENGTHS & FORMATS
– Chopped: Nominal 1/4” (6mm), 1/2” (12mm), 3/4” (18mm), 1” (25mm), custom lengths available
– Milled (150-400 micron)
– Pelletized formats as a drop-in replacement for applications using virgin carbon fiber.
SIZING
Recycled chopped and milled carbon fiber can be compounded with most engineering thermoplastics at various fiber volume fractions. Typical carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics include ABS, PA6, PA66, PBT, PC, PE, PEI, PEEK, PEK, POM, PP, PPS, PSU, PU. Thermoplastic specific sizings can be applied to improve dispersibility and interface adhesion.

NON-WOVEN FABRIC
Wet-laid non-woven veils with various binders in areal weights ranging from 2-50gsm and carded mats ranging from 100-400 gsm can be produced by our partners for use in molding compounds, infusion, or compression molding applications.
PERFORMANCE / QUALITY
Vartega’s properties have been independently verified. Various analytical techniques are used to validate quality. Routine analyses includes: SEM, TGA, DSC, XPS, FTIR, & tensile testing.
