Powder metal technology is capable of processing a variety of alloys, from standard steels and stainless steels to titanium, including specialty alloys, difficult-to-machine high nickel and cobalt alloys, precious metals, and custom alloys only possible with PM processes.A number of mechanical processes are used to fabricate metal components from powders, including die compaction, injection molding, and additive manufacturing. Fabrication also can occur through thermal processing, including sintering, heat treating, and isostatic pressing. In addition, new manufacturing processes and materials using powder metals are always in development.
