Canadian company Mosaic Manufacturing rolled out a whole set of new products: updated filament splicers Palette for 3D printing with several rods through one hotend, the first FDM 3D printer of its own design in two versions and automated additive platform Array with the ability to work independently for three days.
The main surprise of yesterday’s premiere was that Mosaic decided to take up the production of their own 3D printers, and in a big way, offering two versions of desktop additive systems and an automated production platform. 3D printers were named Element and, as it is easy to guess, are equipped with proprietary splicers. On these devices installed Palette X – the most advanced, integrated version with the highest performance, and besides still able to work with refractory materials, such as PEEK. Regular splicers solder rods with a melting point up to 250°C, but for the Palette X, the upper bar is set at 500°C.
3D printers are offered in the base variant Element and high-temperature Element HT with a 500-degree hotend, heated to 120 ° C platform, and heated chamber to 80 ° C. The base version, on the other hand, has an extruder with a maximum temperature of 300°C and no active regulation of the background temperature in the thermal chamber. Otherwise, the characteristics of the two systems are almost the same.
The build area size is 356x356x356 mm, stacking speed reaches 100 mm/s and positioning speed is 200 mm/s. Layer thickness is adjustable from 20-230 µm. The systems are equipped with carbon and HEPA filters, onboard cameras for remote monitoring of operations, and 5-inch color touch screens. The heads are modular and require no more than one minute to change. The standard 0.4 mm nozzles are made of hardened steel. Data transfer is possible via LAN, Wi-Fi and USB. The systems are equipped with a set of sensors monitoring humidity in the compartments with filament, feeding, residue and temperature of materials.
The company also offers a suite of proprietary consumables, including PLA, PET-G, ABS, ACA, thermoplastic polyurethane, nylon, carbon-filled versions of nylon and PET-G, polycarbonate, and antistatic filament. Additionally available for the Element HT variant are refractory engineering thermoplastic filaments: PEEK, PEEK and polyetherimide (PEI, PEI). There are no restrictions in terms of the use of third-party materials, any filaments with a diameter of 1.75 mm can be used.
