Filaments.directory Announces “Filament Settings” Contest at TCT Show

New Filament.directory contest will celebrate the newly introduced 3D printing setting sharing feature, which will allow users to create and share their best printing profiles with one another.

The relationship between the 3D printer and the vast array of readily available filaments is one that is wondrous, yet unpredictable. The unpredictability stems from the fact that every 3D printer and filament type interact differently, and although filament producers do their best to provide an accurate print setting, the wide range of 3D printers on the market make it extremely difficult to pinpoint.

The solution to this problem rests in the hands of the 3D printing user, which is why Filaments.directory has launched the 3D printing setting sharing feature. This features is a new user-experience that will allow 3D printing enthusiasts around the world to create and share their personalized printing profiles, which accounts for both the type of filament and the 3D printer in use.

To celebrate this new feature, Filaments.directory has announced a one month Filament Settings contest at the TCT Show, which is taking place from September 28 to 29 in Birmingham, UK. The contest will call upon users to enter their print settings for a chance to win amazing prizes that have a total value of over 4000 Euros. These prizes include two Wanhao I3 PLUS printer eight boxes of 4kg Colorfabb CO-POLYESTER, 20 spools of Extrudr BDP, and five boxes of 4kg Innofil PRO1.

The rules for the contest are quite simple: each valid print settings equals one chance to win, which means that the more you share, the more of a chance you will have at winning one of the prizes.

“I need every 3D printing owner to put their best settings on Filaments.directory. The goal is to lower the time losses, enhance success rate, lower the technical barrier to entry. This will be a huge enhancement for all the 3D printing community,” says Gauthier de Valensart, founder of Filaments.directory.

Not only will the contest give participants a great opportunity to win various prizes, it will also mark the start of a user-driven 3D printing filament community, one that will help optimize the way that we all use our FDM 3D printing technology. The more quality settings that are uploaded, the more the 3D printing experience will become easier, more reliable, and less time consuming. Together, all of the inputted print settings will be consolidated into big data and used to create the best profiles for every 3D printer.

The Filaments Settings contest will officially launch on October 8, and will run for four weeks before prize winners are selected. You can subscribe to the Filaments.directory newsletter to stay up-to-date with the upcoming contest and the ever-expanding 3D printing community.
