Phrozen’s New MSLA 3D Printer with 8K Resolution

Taiwan-based Phrozen released its Sonic Mega 8K desktop photopolymer 3D printer in late 2021. The machine features a 15-inch die that provides high detail with a large build area.

Phrozen’s new LCD/LCD-SLA 3D printer has a build volume of 330x185x400mm by the standards of desktop stereolithography systems, but keeps the pixel size at 43µm. (The customers interested in a larger build volume but with a 4K resolution can try the Sonic XL 4K by the same company). It achieves this by using a new light module with a 15-inch LCD mask with 8K resolution. In addition, we are talking about the now mandatory, given current trends, monochrome matrix with the resulting increase in sharpness and performance. The Z-axis build speed is up to 70 mm/h.

The platform is mounted on dual linear guides driven via ball-screw. The dual guides, coupled with the 3D printer’s all-metal support structure, are designed for durability and fairly high loads without backlash that can affect print quality. The cooling system consists of two fans. On-board interface includes a five-inch touch screen, plus ports for USB and Ethernet connections. Preparing 3D models for printing is standard with the popular ChiTuBox slicer.

In parallel with the new 3D printer, the company is offering a Phrozen Cure Mega prefabrication chamber with a suitable usable volume of 400x400x450 mm. The device is equipped with UV emitters with a wavelength of 405 nm and a rotating platform that provides uniform processing.
