Prosthetics is a field in which 3D scanning has been used for a long time.
The Research Center for 3D Printing and Intelligent Manufacturing at Dongguan University of Technology has developed a range of solutions for 3D prosthetics using Scantech iReal 3D scanners. Firstly, it is necessary to scan and obtain 3D data of the patient’s residual limb, and then scan all prosthesis components as a whole, try to collect data from two groups of 3D data; apply FEA software to analyze the static and dynamic stress ranges of residual limb and lower limb force line, determine the structural scheme and print the prosthesis receiving cavity on a 3D printer. This 3D solution provides more accurate and scientifically validated individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans that medical professionals can apply to patient care.
- Stump scanning with the iReal 3D scanner for 3D data

- Designing a joint structure and performing 3D printing using composite material

- Printing the finished nylon prosthesis and assembling the bionic joint device
